||Everything BUT the Device||

 Honestly, I’ll just say it bluntly because that’s the way I prefer to communicate anyhow. Neuralink Scares me. Not the device, conceptually creating a device that connects to the brain should be feasible, neurons fire electrical signals similar to computer devices. My issue stands with everything except the device it’s self.

Larger companies have taken over the world; in efforts to industrialize resources and labor, companies push humanity towards efforts to conserve the ‘bottom line’, profit. This has lead companies to take advantage of those in need, pharmaceutical companies charge hundreds for medication that takes cents to produce, tech companies intentionally slow their devices, and labor has moved to third world countries in efforts to cut cost. Regardless of the way people look at it, in most situations, a company owns you, and you signed in the Terms of Service.

 Neuralink and Elon Musk, the CEO, hold several similarities with the abusive tactics I just listed. While I’d like to believe we could create a technology that could improve the general well being of individuals, especially those who are more unfortunate, I believe a company and an idea this large in the hands of a CEO who has shown to use criminal tactics to expand the value of their business can only lead to something horrible. I’m uncertain of what the future of this technology holds but currently, I find myself to be skeptical at best.
